Frequently asked questions

Below you’ll find answers to the questions we get asked the most about RagTagd.

If you’re a parent: tell us you’re interested (click here), we’ll then send a survey to you, for you to share with your school’s network. Once 10+ parents are interested, we’ll contact your school.

If you work at a school: tell us you’re interested (click here), and a friendly member of our team will call you.

Yes. We install a Smart Rack in school for free and give initial Smart Tags to parents for free.

After this launch period, we work with school uniform suppliers to ensure Smart Tags are pre integrated into uniforms. In our experience in Australia (where we come from!) we found many suppliers will absorb the cost. However, it could be that in the future, retailers decide to charge a small amount to cover the cost of the Smart Tag.

Yes. Smart Tags are the size of a traditional ‘name tag’ that may be in your children’s uniforms already. Inside is a small RFID strip, this is the same technology used in debit and credit cards.

Not at all. Tags are completely passive and only work in lost property areas, where they can be detected by our Smart Racks.

We work with schools that tell us they have a major problem with lost property, primarily these are schools with 400+ students.

However, if you feel your school has a problem with lost property but has less students then please still get in touch.

Our Smart Tags & Smart Racks look like the below. However, Smart Racks can be customised to fit in with the school. They are generally an organised shelving unit, fitted with a small sensor and a small antenna.

Simply send a single SMS with your tag’s unique code (e.g. “MY1T4G”) to the number on the Smart Tag. You’ll receive an automated response to confirm activation. These texts are free.

Not a problem! New owners simply text the Smart Tag’s six digit code to the number specified on the tag, as one would for a first-time activation.

The original owner then receives a text message to verify transfer of ownership, which they can approve or decline. After approval, the ownership is then transferred to the new number.

Yep – not a problem at all. A Smart Tag will stay durable for at least 3 years with regular washing.
